In this tutorial, you will learn how to backup your iPhone running on iOS 7 with iTunes. Judging from the point of view of lost contacts, agenda or just music library, creating a backup of your iPhone in due time is a good idea. We support you in this endeavor and we'll show you how to do it. Step 1. Connect your iPhone to computer and launch iTunes, if the software doesn't start up automatically. Step 2. If this is the first time you make this connection, click on your iPhone to enter its' world :) You should now see the name of your iOS device and its characteristics, along with the operating system you have installed. Step 3. The "Backups" option below is what you need. There are two ways of backing up your iPhone: via your computer and via iCloud. Each way has its own merit: speed or accessibility. In a perfect world, you would want to use both. Keep in mind that a backup of your iPhone is a complete snapshot of its state at a certain moment in time. All your data (photos, contacts, calendars, notes, messages, settings, etc.), but not the operating system are included in that backup; it is like freezing the soul of your phone for a later revisit. Having said that, let's look at how backup works. Step 4. If you are running iTunes for syncing, there is a great little setting in the "Preferences" panel of iTunes, on the "Devices" tab that says: "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically". Make sure you have this selected. Step 5. Select the desired mode of backup: iCloud or computer. You can add an encryption layer to your backup when it's performed. Checkmark the box if you need this feature. Your automatic backup is scheduled. Click "Sync" or "Apply", depending on where is the destination of your backup. The backup operation initiates. Step 6. You can also do a manual backup by clicking on the "Back Up Now" button in iTunes. Step 7. A last note about your backup locations: if you're doing it on the computer, the location of your backup can be found as follows: for Windows XP, in \Documents and Settings\(your username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ for Windows Vista, 7 and 8, in \Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ for Mac OS, in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ Result: This was a HowTech tutorial.
