"Mistrusted Love" was the only single released from the "Mistress" album on RSO Records in 1979. Mistrusted Love reached the top 50 in the Billboard Single Charts in 1979 & sank very soon after. The Mistress album was actually recorded in 1977,but, RSO Records sat on the album for 2 years & didnt release it until 1979 & by then, Mistress was no longer. If RSO Records had released the "Mistress" album in 1977,who knows what would've happened to this fantastic album & band. The "Mistress" album was produced by the late, "Thomas Jefferson Kaye". Nothing is really known on what happened to or where the members of Mistress are except for, Danny Chauncey who went on to play with, "38 Special". Mistress consisted of.......... Charlie Williams : Lead Vocals. Kenny Hopkins : Rhythm & Slide Guitars,2nd Lead Vocals. Danny Chauncey : Lead & Rhythm Guitars. David Walker Brown : Bass Guitar. Chris Paulsen : Drums. This midtempo tune creates a haunting and moody effect, thanks to a distinctive vocal style and fresh arrangement.... Mistress is a five man high powered rock band that has a flair for writing catchy and melodic tunes that jump off the turntable. Charlie Williams lead vocals have a natural rock intonation and just the right phrasing to give this young band a seasoned sound. The band's sound is heavy on guitar riffs, although they are not the bombastic kind. Supplementary instrumentation includes keyboards, banjo and pedal steel guitar. The tracks are tight and very suitable for commercial play, included is a stirring rendition of Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" and some effective ballads. Best Cuts: "China Lake",,"Dixie Flyer",,"Mistrusted Love",, "Cinnamon Girl"... Dealers: This is a natural for both AOR and top 40 airplay.
