Near the beginning of the 18th century, the New World was developing its own identity. Benjamin Franklin was one of the colonies leaders in directing this development. Franklin's beginnings tell of the youthful unrest that led him to become a runaway apprentice printer. Armed with his program of self improvement and curiosity, he invented products that still live today like bifocals, the Franklin stove and lightning rods. As a scientist, his curiosity with nature gave him the title of the man who tamed electricity. While traveling the world, he left a path of amazing diplomatic accomplishments. And when duty called, he became the world's greatest political architect to bring the United States into world existence. Benjamin Franklin: printer, author, entrepreneur, inventor, scientist, politician, His deeds have earned him a spot among the pantheon of our Founding Fathers.
