In the installation screen of windows, you can pull up the command prompt by pressing shift+F10 or FN+Shift+F10 then put in this command: diskpart list disk select disk (disk number) clean convert mbr exit My laptop: Lenovo Y580 Hard drive: Samsung SSD 840 Pro Series (512gb) I loaded by accident windows 7 32 bit when I needed 64 bit. So when I went to load it, it would not go at all and couldn't figure it out even with reformatting the hard drive in CMD. Only Windows 8 could be loaded on my UEFI laptop. Even when I went into the bios and changed it from UEFI to Legacy boot, it would not take Windows 7. Apparently, with this kind of laptop with UEFI, it can only take Windows 8. Here is the website with the steps to take to format the hard drive using CMD (just make sure to backup any data) http://www.techhack.co.uk/2011/03/31/format-a-hard-drive-with-command-prompt/ I hope this helps and if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to discuss
