I go through the process of signing up with a domain registrar, getting a domain name for personal use, getting a SSL certificate voucher, generating a CSR, submitting it and finally getting an approved SSL certificate. Note that the SSL part is optional. I am only getting one because the web application that I'm using requires it. Also note that the domain names for personal use aren't that important.
