Control of Electrical Appliances by Complete Quadriplegic

A complete quadriplegic asked me if there was any way he could control an electrical appliance, such as a fan, when he is in bed at night. I came up with this solution using either a Lego MindStorms NXT or Lego Mindstorms EV3 plus a Dexter Industries dSwitch. I hope he likes it.
