This actually can even apply to the will power of getting yourself into the gym. You are not born with the gene of will power. It is much more of a muscle that you need to keep working out to get it stronger. People look at a personal trainer and think they are just made differently and don't have the struggles that the general population does. Its not that at all. I know a lot of personal trainers that have struggled with fat loss or weight loss in their past, including myself, and after they have learned how to fix it, they have an extra drive to help everyone else figure it out, because I've got a secret for you, the answer is not found in your muscle and fitness magazines. A personal trainers self discipline usually comes from years of practice. I can only speak for myself, but it wasn't always easy to say no to certain things. And yes, I've failed before, and I'm sure I will fail again in the future. But each time you are able to turn down those temptations, your will power or self discipline, gets stronger. It becomes easier to say no to the snacks at work meetings, or the happy hour every Friday. And that self discipline becomes even stronger when you start to see your results. But the flip side can be true too. If you don't keep exercising that muscle, it becomes weak. When people start to make unhealthy food choices, it tends to spiral out of control, because they just don't care anymore. And eventually, it doesn't even bother them. That's why people usually even start personal training. To form those good habits of getting into the gym, and having someone monitor their food intake. And when that will power and self discipline is strong enough, they head out on their own ready to take on their weight loss and workout on their own.
